What happens when you call

  1. You call or request a callback

Say what the tree is doing, what it is near and whether power lines are involved.

  2. You are connected with a local company

Limbwright routes the call to an independent tree service company that covers your ZIP code. Limbwright does not do tree work itself.

  3. They look at the tree and quote

Pricing, scheduling and the work are between you and that company. Ask for proof of insurance and a written scope.

  4. The work is done to the agreed scope

Takedown, haul-off, stump and cleanup are each stated in the quote, so nothing is assumed.

Before you hire anyone

Straight answers to the questions that come up on nearly every call.

Does Limbwright remove trees itself?

No. Limbwright is a referral service. When you call or send a request, you are connected with an independent tree service company that serves your area. That company inspects the tree, gives the price and does the work.

How do I know whether a tree needs to come down?

Removal is warranted when a tree is dead, has a structural defect that pruning or cabling cannot correct, or stands where something must be built. Size, leaf drop and age are not reasons. The tree removal page compares removal with the alternatives.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

It depends on the city. Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Austin and Charlotte regulate many private trees, while Houston and Oklahoma City regulate few. Each location page summarizes the local rule and links to the official source.

What should I ask a tree company before hiring?

Ask for a certificate of liability insurance and workers' compensation sent by the insurer, a written scope that states haul-off and stump handling, the total price, and when payment is due. Avoid anyone who wants full payment before starting.

Is a tree down in my yard an emergency?

Only if it is on a structure, blocking your exit, tangled in lines or still shifting. A tree lying on open lawn can wait for regular scheduling and regular rates. See emergency tree removal.
